So Long Sherpa!

Emily Lewis

As Managing Editor of Web Standards Sherpa, I have the privilege of working with some of the web industry's most talented and passionate people. It is a true honor to be part of a team dedicated to sharing knowledge and advocating for standards and best practices.

So it is bittersweet that Sherpa must close its doors this year.

Sad, because I absolutely loved helping our authors craft amazing content (and reading said content before everyone else). Sweet, because we are having one last Sherpa hurrah: a one-day virtual conference with talks from some of our Sherpas. And you can register now!

Sherpa Summit

In partnership with Environments for Humans, Web Standards Sherpa is hosting Sherpa Summit on April 2, 2015. This one-day, one-time only, completely online conference will feature presentations from:

Our publisher Aaron Gustafson and I will also be hosting Q&A panels, where attendees can ask our Sherpas their most pressing questions.

Why a Conference?

One of the reasons we have to stop publishing Sherpa is money. Despite years of generous donations, we just don't have the funds to continue paying staff or authors. By hosting this conference, we hope to raise enough money to keep the Sherpa site online and archived indefinitely.

This means that even though we won't be publishing new articles or Q&As, all of the great content on the site will remain available for years to come.
