Diverse Perspectives, Strategic Advice

Creating and maintaining a successful web presence is a team effort. And the strongest teams are those that bring a broad range of perspectives. With over 20 years experience creating websites for both businesses and nonprofits, Bright Umbrella has a well-rounded insight into the challenges each face. As a WBENC-certified women-owned business, we also bring diverse perspectives to the web design and development process.

Work With Us

This diversity of viewpoints helps us build strategic web solutions — so you can connect with the full spectrum of your audience.

Diversity Is Smart Business

Bright Umbrella advocates for diversity and inclusion in our industry, and we encourage other women in tech (and business) because we know first-hand that investment in underrepresented groups is good business for everyone.

Equality for All

Bright Umbrella provides equality of services and care to everyone, regardless of age, ability, gender, gender identity, race, religion or belief, or sexual orientation.

This is more than just a statement. This is how we approach all aspects of our personal and professional lives.

We proudly support people of color and even represent different ethnicities ourselves. We are proud to know and work with people from the LGBTQ community. We are proud to be a women-owned business that actively collaborates with other women professionals. And we seek clients who are like-minded and appreciate the value diversity brings to their businesses.

Access for All

Bright Umbrella knows that not everyone uses the web the same. Some people use their phones and some use their desktops. Some use screen readers, while others use text-based browsers. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Bright Umbrella acknowledges users of all capabilities and access because, fundamentally, the web is about information sharing. And we believe that information should be accessible to all.

Not only do we strongly advocate for an accessible web, the solutions we build follow today’s accepted accessibility standards, including WCAG and Section 508.

Diversity Drives Business

We believe diversity promotes innovation and opens up new channels of revenue, for our clients and ourselves:

  • Diverse-owned firms offer insight into emerging markets due to their cultural awareness.
  • Small businesses are nimble and provide innovative solutions, augmenting the competitive nature of the supply chain.
  • Diverse suppliers provide valuable perspectives for distinct markets, opening the door for enhanced market share, cost saving efficiencies and higher profit margins.
  • Supply chain diversification helps companies mirror their diversity and inclusion strategy throughout the organization, while gaining insights into diverse consumer segments.

Empowering Through Education

We produce and host CTRL+CLICK CAST, a long-running (5 years!) tech podcast that features diverse voices from the web industry. We strive to not only provide top-notch practical advice, but to present that advice from guests who represent all ages, ethnicities, genders and life experiences.

We believe education is the foundation for embracing diversity and empowering underrepresented groups. Our annual giving is focused on education and women. For the past three years, we donated to send girls to school via Heifer International. In 2016, we donated to the Malala Fund, which works to help women around the world get education.
