Family Friend Poems
Curated, safe haven to read and share poems that help heal through catharsis
Family Friend Poems curates and publishes poetry, supporting a large community of contributors and readers seeking to share and heal. They originally wanted to simply update their existing website for today’s mobile device world, while retaining the site’s primary source of revenue: online advertising. But because we invest in our clients’ businesses—not just their websites—Bright Umbrella first got to know FFP.
After discussing short and long term goals, plus the audience’s goals and needs, it was clear that FFP also needed a new identity and brand guidelines. We narrowed down what his site is all about and what he envisions for its future, then translated that visually and through a brand action plan. We also advised on ways to increase engagement through his social media channels. The result was a massive increase in brand consistency, as well as user engagement on Facebook and other social media channels.
Concurrent with his rebranding, we went through an intensive content discovery phase, which guided the new site’s information architecture and user experience. Beyond reorganizing the site and prioritizing navigation, we designed and developed mobile-friendly, responsive layouts that would support users and the site’s online advertising requirements. FFP’s owner is a developer himself, so we delivered a set of templates that he builds and extends on his own. To support his development, we created a comprehensive, web-based Style Guide that details the HTML and CSS nuances of the templates.
